How does EpiMonitor work?
When the EpiMonitor algorithm detects unusual patterns that may be associated with generalized tonic-clonic seizures lasting longer than 20 seconds, it will communicate with the companion EpiMonitor App installed on the user’s dedicated smartphone to alert active caregivers with a phone call and a text message. It is designed to expedite assistance when a seizure occurs.
For the EpiMonitor system to function as designed, watch wearers are required to have a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth and internet connectivity. The phone needs to be kept within 15 feet of the EmbracePlus watch for alerts to be sent.
What’s the minimum age to use EpiMonitor?
The EpiMonitor system is FDA-cleared for adults and children ages 6 and up. Use in children younger than 6 should be evaluated by a clinician on a case-by-case basis.

What type of seizures is EpiMonitor able to detect?
The EpiMonitor algorithm is designed to detect unusual patterns associated with generalized tonic-clonic seizures lasting 20 seconds or longer. It is not designed to detect seizures that do not generate movements such as complex partial seizures, absence seizures or non-convulsive seizures. However, you can manually add other types of seizures to the EpiMonitor App to keep track of all seizure events.

Customers in the UK do not need a prescription to purchase EpiMonitor.
