Parkinson’s can look different from one day to the next. Symptoms can shift with medication, sleep, and activity, and by the next appointment, it can be hard to remember exactly what changed or when.
For people living with Parkinson’s and the families who support them, making sense of those changes takes time and attention. A difficult afternoon might raise questions about medication timing, especially for those managing multiple doses throughout the day. A few nights of disrupted sleep might start to affect the rest of the day. But remembering those experiences, staying on top of every dose, and recognizing patterns across weeks isn’t always easy.
At Empatica, we’ve been working to help people bring more of that everyday experience into view. On October 28th, we’re introducing a new way to monitor Parkinson's, bringing our FDA-cleared, clinically validated technology directly to people at home.
Building technology around people
Empatica began as an MIT Media Lab spin-off, founded on the idea that healthcare technology should feel friendly, caring, and human.
That belief has guided our work ever since: building medical devices that fit into people’s lives and help patients and their families feel more supported.
Our work in epilepsy has shown us how much that support can mean. Empatica’s EpiMonitor detects tonic-clonic seizures and alerts caregivers by call and text, offering an added layer of safety that can help people feel more independent and their families feel more at ease.
Our wearable devices and digital biomarkers also support researchers and pharmaceutical companies studying a wide range of health conditions.
Bringing Parkinson’s expertise closer to home
In 2025, we acquired PKG Health, and our clinically validated algorithms for Parkinson’s and movement disorders are backed by more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and used across more than 150 hospitals and clinical sites worldwide.
Combining that expertise with our wearable technology and experience bringing medical devices directly to patients has opened a new chapter in our work.
Our next step is Parkinson’s monitoring designed for everyday life: helping people understand changes over time and share a clearer picture of their experience with the people supporting their care.
Join us on October 28
We look forward to sharing more next week, including how the device and companion app work together to support a deeper understanding of motor symptoms, sleep, and activity.
Visit our website on October 28 to learn more. Orders will open that day, with shipping beginning November 23.
