Purple Day 2019 with Cassidy Megan

Purple Day is a global epilepsy awareness event, founded by a brave young girl named Cassidy Megan back in 2008. At the time, Cassidy was only 9 years old and had been diagnosed with epilepsy two years earlier, but that didn't stand in her way. Since then, every March 26 provides the opportunity to spread epilepsy awareness in over 100 countries.

Disney’s Purple Day event in Orlando was a beautiful splash of purple-clad families from across the country gathering their voices to learn the latest in epilepsy support, and to share their stories, their experiences. It was heart-warming to hear feedback from the Empatica's users attending the event. We’ve come a long way since the early days of beta-testing, and it’s thrilling to learn first-hand of the impact Embrace has made, how each improvement in our system is lending to a greater peace of mind for these families. And we strive to continue our efforts for a bigger impact.

So what brought us all to Purple Day? I had the privilege of finding out. While setting up our Empatica table in the wee hours of the morning, in walked a vision in light lavenders, the courageous Cassidy Megan. She’s the real-life embodiment of a Disney Princess, certainly the kind I strive to be. Strong, gracious, and confident, she’s been raising her voice for epilepsy for the past decade. Later in the day she spoke to a room of hundreds about the struggles she’s had to overcome, and the impact epilepsy has made on her life.

She hasn’t let any of it stop her. And here at Empatica, we look forward to supporting Cassidy’s endeavors as she continues to triumph through life.
