All Set for GDPR!

As you may know, the European Union has set a new standard with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) ”giving individuals better control over their personal data and how it’s used”.

Given our focus on high quality, we were already meeting the rules set out by the EU on many levels, but have taken these last few weeks to ensure that we fulfill all of its obligations.

Here are some of the measures we’ve taken:

1. We’ve updated our Privacy Policy so you can easily understand exactly why we ask for information and how it will be used.
2. Given you more clarity and control over your data. In your Empatica account, you’ll see clear and simple explanations for how your data is used. You can also request that we delete all of your personal data or have it sent to you. E4 researchers can review how we manage and store data here.
3. Made it super quick and easy to manage the communication you receive from us. You can handle all your communication preferences directly through your Empatica account or Connect account for researchers.
4. Appointed a Data Protection Officer that will ensure that the way your data is handled is with your best interests at heart.
5. Extended the GDPR provisions beyond EU citizens, to all our users globally.

To help us move towards the highest standards of protecting your data, we ask that you look out for email and app notifications from us describing our privacy policy and the usage of your data.

GDPR marks a big change towards greater data protection and management. We’re ready and excited to meet it with full accountability and transparency because we value you and believe that it’s necessary to keep your data secure.
