Empatica Health Monitoring Platform

Funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020. Empatica has joined a consortium with lead researchers in Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The goal of the consortium is to introduce a revolutionary approach based on machine learning to accurately diagnose OSA and provide optimal treatment for patients. With the help of EmbracePlus research suite, researchers and patients from across Europe are brought together under a single platform and work together to reach our common goal.

Despite the fact that adult attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common chronic condition among adults, with a high rate of ADHD patients also presenting various cardiometabolic conditions; our knowledge about this condition is lacking. Empatica has joined this consortium and is providing the EmbracePlus research suite to acquire new and unique real-world data using groundbreaking and advanced technology for continuous health monitoring to help develop ways to monitor ADHD and cardiometabolic symptoms and risks and eventually, contribute to optimized and personalized treatment approaches.

Empatica and Takeda collaborated to create a digital biomarker for Fabry Disease, a rare genetic disorder causing severe complications, the most common of which is absent or reduced sweating. Empatica’s EmbracePlus wearable was employed to explore the correlation between Electrodermal Activity (EDA) and sweat patterns. The data was used to develop an algorithm that could accurately distinguish low and high sweating subjects with a sensitivity of 77.27% and a specificity of 75.86%.
